That’s how long it took me to finish the sweater vest. The seaming didn’t take any time, but then I realized that the vest was too small for TO (size 2T). I checked my measurements and then my gauge. The verdict – I knit tighter than my swatch. So instead of 5.5 x 7 stitches per inch, the vest’s gauge was 6x8. So I think this will fit DS#3 for Easter when he’s roughly a size 18mths. But I’m going to try Catherine Lowe’s technique of blocking. From what I understand, you knit tight and then block to the desired gauge. We’ll see.Oct 6, 2008

Knitting Again
Fall’s cool mornings have sparked that knitting bug in me again. A few weeks ago I began hording random balls of Cascade Superwash 220. The result – one sweater vest nearly finished and a cardigan sweater in the planning stages.

PJ's and a Blanket
Well, even though I dropped off the blogosphere with the arrival of baby #3, I am still alive, sneaking in some knitting time here and there. This lap blanket is proof of that.

I got a big jump on this project when I was in the hospital with DS#3's birth and extended stay. Then I tried to get at least a square done a day. Several weeks later - a blanket for Grandma C.
The pattern is from The Knitter's Book of Yarn. (It's a great book if you really want to understand the characteristics of yarn.) I added an extra row to make it a little bit longer and I crochet a simple border.

FO - PJ'S
These pajamas are not knitted, but are made from knitted fabric (so does that count?). I dusted off my sewing machine and have been making pajamas for my two oldest. This is the only complete set finished. After figuring out tension issues and nailing down fit, they came together really easily. I ordered a copy of Ottobre design (Issue 1/2007) from Sewzanne's Fabrics along with some cotton interlock. I really like Ottobre's patterns for boys...a little on the hip side while still looking like a kid.
